Winter averaging will be used to determine the usage upon which the following rates will be based. The winter averaging formula is as follows: From and after the effective date of this section, the monthly charges for wastewater service shall be based on a winter averaging of water usage during the three-month period of November, December, and January each year - to become effective and applied to each account with the March billing for February usage. The winter averaging method will be applied only to residential accounts that are separately metered as such. Apartment complexes with master meters, commercial businesses, places of worship, and schools will be billed for wastewater service based upon actual water used for each billing cycle. New residential customers will have their initial wastewater charge set using an average basis as determined by the city secretary. A water consumption figure may be changed if the city secretary can determine that a leak occurred during any of the three months which is being used to determine the average. The water consumption for the month in which the leak occurred may be changed to read whichever is a greater consumption of the other three months (November, December, January). Upon determination of the average, the following rates shall apply
Up to 2,000 gallons$35.00
per 1,000 gallons$2.77

Up to 2,000 gallons$35.00
per 1,000 gallons$2.77

You may pay your bill by:

Late Notices:

Late notices are sent out on the first business day after the due date of each month. Late payments are due ten (10) days after the due date to avoid disconnection of service. Services will be disconnected if payment is not received. You will then pay your account balance in full, plus a $30.00 administrative fee to have your service restored. If your water is disconnected for non payment, you MUST be at home to have your water service restored. This is due to liability reasons.

Reasons for Service Termination:

Water service may be cut off for any of the following reasons:

  • Failure to pay your bill
  • Failure to arrange payment for a returned check
  • Unauthorized connection to the water supply system
  • Tampering with meters or other City of Krum' equipment
  • Violation of any water or sewer related City of Krum ordinances
  • Having a severe leak that creates hazardous conditions

Why is my bill so high?

Your bill is based on how much water passes through your meter, so whether it is used or wasted, you pay for every drop. That is why it is important to use water wisely.

Why was my bill estimated?

Sometimes we have to estimate a meter reading. This happens when a meter is covered by a car, brush or limbs, ice, etc. When this happens, your water usage is estimated based on your past water use. Any overestimate or underestimate will be automatically corrected on your next bill. You can help us serve you better by keeping your meter uncovered and easy to reach.

What is Sewer?

Sewer or wastewater is the used water that goes down the drains inside our houses and businesses.

What causes occasional taste and odor changes in my water?

All water has its own unique taste and odor characteristics. Krum like many other water suppliers, occasionally experiences taste and odor changes. Algae, temperature changes, excessive rain or lack thereof are all constituents that can the alter taste and smell of the water. These changes do not affect the safety of the water.

Sanitation service is on Wednesday of each week. Please have your bagged items out by 7:00 am each week. NO LOOSE TRASH this includes brush not to exceed 4 ft bundled lengths, junk appliances (including refrigerators) and furniture. If you have additional questions, please contact City Hall.
